Arrive early

Arrive one week in advance for your IDC; get to know your new family, Tofo, and the dive sites.

Dive for free, swim with whale sharks, practise skills, review theory, tie knots or just lay on the beach. What ever you choose, we’re here for you, ready to help, listen or just dive.

PADI IDC IN TOFO

IDC

Our IDC is spread over two weeks which gives us a lot of flexibility should we need to amend the schedule. Sometimes people do get ear problems or the weather goes bad for a couple of days which means we can’t launch our boat for training dives. Also, we don’t believe in long school days. We prefer having 6-8 hour days which keeps the learning process comfortable and you don’t get exhausted by the amount of information delivered.

PADI IDC MOZAMBIQUE

Hands on training

The IDC is very much workshop based. There’s not too much sitting in the classroom, instead we practice confined and open water presentations on land, before we jump in the water. This gives us the chance to talk and plan how to perform the assigned presentations underwater.

The classroom presentations and the dive theory will be studied in the classroom in a very relaxed environment and atmosphere. You will give knowledge development presentations to other candidates and you will discuss and teach the missed dive theory exam questions to each others.

PADI IE IN TOFO

PADI IE

The PADI instructor exam or IE is usually spread over 2 days.

The exam is conducted by a PADI Instructor Examiner. All you have to do is to show what you learned during the IDC, exactly the same stuff you practiced over and over again during the IDC. The examiner wants you to pass the exam, he/she does NOT want you to fail. He/she simply wants to see that it’s safe to send you in the industry to teach people how to blow bubbles underwater.

The IE is an evaluative program and it tests your:

1. Teaching ability (pool, open water and class room)

2. Dive theory. knowledge (exams)

3. Dive skills

4. Understanding of the PADI system

5. Attitude and professionalism

Stay team teaching

After passing the IE you can stay with us for two months and team teach your first courses with an experienced Instructor. The goal for this is to get you comfortable with the courses you teach, gain some routine and to help you figure out your own way of teaching. Most important thing is the experience you gain during the two months; conditions in Tofo are sometimes a bit challenging and once you learn how to control the students in our waters, your life will be a lot easier in your next destination.
